This newsletter covers our corn planting progress and some of the struggles that came with planting corn late into poor conditions. I also detail a few of the different tests and trials we're looking at this year.
This update covers our soybean planting progress this year. We were able to find a planting window on May 18th and planted into headed out rye. I cover some of the few trials we're doing and our decision to spray fungicide wheat. I also try to give newsletter mailing list an idea of some challenges a late plant year comes with.
Due to the extended wet period, there's not much going on. In this update, I cover our new sprayer, our wheat crop status, and how cover crops/fields are doing.
In this newsletter, we answer a question from someone on our newsletter email list. We were asked why we don't see more farms locally with practices like ours. We adapted this newsletter to cover why change is hard in agriculture in a more general sense, but certainly applicable to sustainable farming. At the end of the newsletter we briefly touch on an earthworm study we participated in. Enjoy!
This is our first newsletter of the 2019 Season. We had several new members join our email list, so I thought it would be good to put out a newsletter explaining some terms and how/why we choose to do things differently. Enjoy!
Beans have finally been delivered, so here is our final update of the 2018 season. In this update, I briefly go over our 2 soybean programs and how they ended up. I also included a couple cover crop trial results from this year and last year.
This is an important update that explains some things I think will seriously reshape agriculture in the near future and how we are preparing. It explains why exactly we are making the choices we are, at this point in time. We have a long term plan to farm, likewise we need a long term preparation for possible changes to the agriculture industry.
This update covers our results from corn harvest this year. Some good, some bad, and how we'll adapt and move forward. Lots of successes in our program and we're excited for this year's results and how we'll continue to improve in the future! Soybean harvest update will come after soybeans have been delivered.
This update briefly covers some information about our after wheat cover crop. It includes a little information on how we go about designing the mix and also some info on how much Carbon we've calculated it adds to the soil. Enjoy!
The season is winding to a close so we've prepared an update explaining how everything is going. It's a transparent picture of both the good...and the inevitable things that never go as planned, and how we respond. Overall we are incredibly happy with the season!
