"Proudly Giving the Neighbors Something to Talk About"

Sustainability - Environmental & Economic

Our goal is to leave the land better than when we started, through restorative practices. Not only is this environmentally healthy, it has proven to be economically advantageous in our operation. Land is a finite, vulnerable resource and needs to be treated as such. This becomes more important everyday as we try to feed more of the population using less land.
Our goal is longevity and protection from whatever may come in the future, whether it be chemically resistant insects, weeds and diseases, market volatility, or regulation.

Core Principles

How do we accomplish our goals? There's several tools we use:

NO-TILL

Massive soil disturbance is damaging to soil life and structure. We do not use tillage, instead plant directly into undisturbed soil.

KEEPING LIVING ROOTS IN SOIL YEAR ROUND

Most natural soils always have plant life in them 365 days/year. We mimic that by use of wheat and cover crops. Plants support soil life and trap carbon.

DIVERSITY

Monocultures are unnatural. While our cash crops are grown in monoculture (so far...), cover crops & wheat allow us to introduce different life cycles and plant families to our soil.

NON-GMO PRODUCTS

Use of Non-GMO products sets our operation apart from others and allows for some reduced input costs and opportunities for market premiums
