Is it late and you're having a hard time falling asleep? You've come to the right place.

In this tab I'll post papers that go into detail (often painful and excessive amounts of it) about certain topics. I don't expect that most will want, or need, this amount of information. Most files are about 10 pages, so not for the faint of heart. But they give me an opportunity to outline our system of beliefs and our approach to various topics. They are living documents and so may be edited from time to time if I feel something else is needed or needs changed.

Weeds. Big ones. Little ones. How do we deal with them? But first, what even are they? In this write-up, I'll start from the basics and build into different methods of control. I hope that this changes some of the fundamental ways that we think of weeds and especially how we approach their management.

This is a massive topic that is incredibly complex and is fraught with misinformation and poorly studied subjects. Some of the claims made here will most likely depart from the norm, but that is the nature of soils. I have to stress that this is information applies to OUR soils and may or may not make a lick of sense in other areas. I tried to cover what I thought was important at the time for a general understanding.

IPM

How do we effectively manage pests in agriculture? And why are we beginning to see an uptick in resistant pests? The answer lies in Integrated Pest Management, or IPM. In college, I took classes focused around IPM and it is one of my favorite topics. Whether it be herbicide resistant weeds, insecticide resistant insects, or fungicide resistant diseases, there are very real pest problems that we are facing now, or will be facing soon. How do we go about dealing with our current threats and preparing for the upcoming ones. In this write-up I’ll spend some time discussing IPM, current pests we face, pests we may be facing in the future, and how we can deal with these.
